Partitioning used to create R and D
facilities
Fire-rated, double skin steel partitioning from Troax UK has been used to produce a series of test facilities, laboratories, offices and storage areas for ebm-papst UK
Fire-rated, double skin steel partitioning from Troax UK has been used to produce a series of test facilities, laboratories, offices and storage areas for ebm-papst UK, the UK subsidiary of one of Europe's largest motor and fan manufacturers supplying the OEM market, at its R and D centre in Chelmsford, Essex In a complex project carried out by mezzanine floor installation specialist RDA Projects - who designed the complete installation - and refurbishment contractor The Rosebery Group, Troax's Excalibur partitioning was used to construct the bench testing facilities and offices in an existing area of ebm-papst's warehouse

The new two storey office block is completely enclosed on the ground floor using fire-rated, double skin steel and double glazed Excalibur partitioning - this area is used as laboratories.
Above, the mezzanine level, which is used for storage, is open and fitted with safety handrails and can be accessed using a goods lift.
The mezzanine floor was supplied and fitted by RDA Projects.
Excalibur's one-hour fire-rated partitioning system was the obvious choice for this project - its monobloc construction, with two steel skins separated by an inert mineral wool insulating infill (both the steel and steel/double glazed versions) satisfies the fire resistance integrity criteria specified in BS: 476, Part 22: 1987 for a period of 60 minutes.
This double skin construction also provides excellent sound insulation in this busy and sometimes noisy environment while Excalibur's flush-sided design and high quality powder coated finish makes the system streamlined, smart and hardwearing.
Comments Christina Hatton at The Rosebery Group: "This was a complex project that had to be completed within a very tight timescale and Troax's commitment to meeting our deadlines was essential to its success".
"The new office block has a complicated design and had to be integrated into, and fitted flush with the existing building".
"The Excalibur partitioning made the job a lot easier".
"It is very flexible and easy to configure, making it simple to design whatever footprint or layout you want, which saves time when installing the finished product".
"The new office and laboratory areas look very smart and we would definitely use this system again".
"The client is also very happy with the project".
