Bespoke racking safety solution

A Troax UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 8, 2006

Troax custom-designs innovative and convenient document storage solution for iron mountain.

Troax has custom-designed innovative, easy to access storage facilities for Iron Mountain, the world's leading provider of storage and management services for business records, archives and other valuable documentation.

The wire mesh enclosure, which has been installed at Iron Mountain's secure record storage centre in Coulsdon, Surrey, provides high density storage for blueprints, architectural plans, drawings and similar rolled documents.

To provide easy access to the documents, which are contained within cardboard tubes and stored horizontally on racking at the site, Troax worked with racking provider and installer Rack Safe Solutions to develop a completely new design of storage system.

Troax manufactured a series of bespoke wire mesh panels, each with an unusually large, 100mm x 100mm mesh aperture size, to fit exactly into the existing racking, running along the front and rear of the shelving.

Staff can insert and remove the cardboard storage tubes easily through the large mesh apertures, eliminating the need to provide access using separate panels or doors.

This maximises the use of storage space within the racking and is also a very quick and convenient method of accessing records.

Comments Brian Selwood at Rack Safe Solutions: "Troax has been a tried and tested supplier to us for many years".

"We knew this project was going to involve a bespoke element, designing a storage system to suit existing racking so we went to Troax to help us develop the solution".

"It all ran very smoothly and the result is excellent.".
