Hydraulics company installs
environmental wall
Segregating Messier's plating shop from the surrounding area prevents fumes from escaping to adjacent engineering works and also reduces contamination to ensure optimum production conditions
Industrial safety and partitioning specialist Troax UK has designed and installed a multi-tiered, 10m-high environmental wall to optimise production conditions in the plating shop of Messier Services, a leading specialist in the repair and overhaul of landing gears and hydraulic units for military and regional aircraft The project involved extending the existing three metre high partition which spans the length of the plating shop (around 50m in length) to the full height of the facility, which is around 10m

Screens ensure pallet safety
A total of 19 all-welded mesh safety screens, each measuring up to 68m in length, have been installed at River Island's European distribution centre in Milton Keynes.
Troax used modular solid steel panels from its Sabre range of single-skin partitioning to construct the environmental wall which has a dual function - segregating the plating shop from the surrounding area prevents fumes from escaping to adjacent engineering works and also reduces contamination to ensure optimum production conditions.
Messier Services has invested heavily in the Gloucester factory and the plating shop is part of a GBP 1.6 million metal finishing facility which is a European Centre of Excellence for single-aisle aircraft workshops.
Troax carried out a full design and installation service for the project through contractor Davroy Contracts.
A number of problems had to be solved during the course of the installation; because production equipment was already in place on the site and could not be moved, a 'cherry picker' was used to move overhead to reach the wall itself.
In addition, as the facility was fully operational throughout the installation.
Troax' staff worked over a holiday period and three further weekends to complete the project.
Commenting on the project, Ray Plenty of Davroy Contracts said: "We've used Troax for around 30 years and as usual we're delighted with their first class products and excellent service".
"This was potentially quite an awkward job - at 10m, the wall itself is very high and Messier's plating equipment had to remain in place meaning that installation was far from straight-forward but, as always, Troax' installation team was very efficient and extremely professional throughout, helping to devise a solution to these problems".
"Messier are delighted with the result too".
