Rather than posting conventional Christmas cards 3T RPD mailed an "e-card" to all the contacts on its customer, prospect and supplier databases.

It has to be said that the life of a conventional Christmas card is extremely short, particularly those sent business-to-business.

Last year, 3T RPD, based on New Greenham Park, Newbury wanted to do something different and decided to donate the money they would have spent on cards to a charity, with the emphasis being on contributing to a worthwhile cause with long-term aims.

Rather than posting conventional Christmas cards, an "e-card" was e-mailed to contacts on the 3T customer, prospect and supplier databases.

For every person that responded via a link to the 3T website, GBP 1 was be donated to charity.

Last year GBP 223 was donated to BLISS, the National Charity for the Newborn.

BLISS works to give every baby born in Britain an equal start in life.

In any one year, 1 in 10 babies born in Britain will require special hospital care and 1 in 100 will require the highest level of care.

This year, GBP 150 has been donated to When You Wish Upon A Star, a charity that fulfils the wishes of children with life threatening and terminal illnesses.

The highlight of each year is to charter four planes to take 400 terminally ill children to Lapland to see Father Christmas himself.

Sue Oram, Marketing Executive at 3T, said: "Whilst a conventional Christmas card is always received with appreciation, they do end up being thrown away or, at best, recycled.

We toyed with the idea of buying charity Christmas cards, but really wanted to do something just that little bit different! The majority of our marketing communication is via e-mail newsletters and through our website, so this was the ideal solution".
