3T RPD has been running its rapid product development seminars in Telford for the last 9 months, and the most recent in March was held at a new venue Polymer Training is a leading trainer for the plastics and rubber industries

Its renowned Technical Centre provides the ideal environment for technical training in the major plastics conversion processes.

41 delegates from 20 companies attended, and they all took the opportunity of a guided tour of Polymer Training's injection moulding facility after 3T's presentations and lunch.

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems-Components Europe, a tier one global supplier of automotive wiring systems and associated components to vehicle manufacturers throughout the UK, Europe, Asia and America, sent three of its project engineers to this seminar.

Lee Bates said: "I found the seminar to be very useful and relevant to my area of work - new product introduction.

It was surprising to find just how far rapid prototyping has come in such a relatively short period of time.

I was particularly interested in the concept modelling section of the seminar, as it appears that we could have a space model within just a couple of hours".

Clarence Micklewright added: "This seminar was an excellent insight into how far this aspect of engineering has progressed in a very short time, and has highlighted the advantages of concept to rapid solid usable samples in a very short time".

Dave Wain summarised: "As a rapid prototyping novice i was extremely impressed with this seminar and felt it gave me an excellent initial insight into the industry.

It highlighted many new RP advances that may be applied to future projects within my organisation".

Paul Edwards, Business Development Manager based in Telford said: "Following the success of these events during the last 3 years in Newbury, we are now able to reach a much wider audience by hosting them in Telford.

Polymer Training is the perfect venue, and the fact that they only take up a morning, and include a buffet lunch, seems to suit everyone".

3T's seminars provide an informative, unbiased overview on how to achieve successful rapid product development through concept modelling, rapid prototyping and rapid tooling.

Promoting the technologies available, they demonstrate their applicability to industry and contain just the right amount of information on each subject and process to stimulate endless ideas and questions.

There is no charge for attending the seminars, and those held at 3T's main site in Newbury, Berkshire, give delegates the opportunity to take a guided tour of the company's SLS workshops and see the machines in action.

Future dates are: Tuesday 27th April 2004 and Wednesday 9th June 2004 at Sandford Springs Golf Club, near Newbury, Berkshire; and Tuesday 13th July 2004 at Polymer Training in Telford.

For companies with 10 or more delegates interested in attending, 3T will take the seminar to their site and run it there, free of charge.
