Filters reduce wastage for agricultural feed firm
Compact Spotair venting filters from dust control specialist Torit DCE are generating significant operational savings for Devon-based agricultural feed specialist, Lloyd Maunder.
Compact Spotair venting filters from dust control specialist Torit DCE are generating significant operational savings for Devon-based agricultural feed specialist, Lloyd Maunder.
Now, thanks to Torit DCE, the factory will improve cleanliness and reduce product wastage through efficient product reclamation.
"Dust was being generated at a number of conveying and elevating points in the factory" explains Simon Allanson Bailey, Lloyd Maunder's Mill Manager.
"This not only created a mess, but also meant that we were wasting product and operating inefficiently".
Lloyd Maunder contacted Torit DCE - the leading name in dust and fume control - for advice.
Torit DCE recommended installation of five Spotair filters to provide low volume, point of use dust control for the factory.
Three Spotair SA F50-HF units have been horizontally mounted at key points onto the plant's conveyors and two vertical mounting SA F40-VF filters have been directly fitted to serve elevating machinery.
Utilising Dalamatic fabric filter bags proven in thousands of Torit DCE dust control applications across the world, these units provide high efficiency, continuous filter operation for an air volume of 750mü/hr.
Developed as a highly efficient, cost effective system, the DCE Spotair is ideal for material reclamation purposes within this type of agrofood production environment.
Whilst maintaining a slight negative pressure in the system, each DCE Spotair filter captures any dust which is generated and then returns it directly into the process stream.
This operation is eliminating wasteful dust emissions at the factory and ensuring that the Lloyd Maunder mill has a higher standard of cleanliness with a lower labour input.
Both Units have been suitably stiffened to withstand an ST2 rated explosion.
"The Spotair units have made a real impact on our business" says Simon Allanson Bailey.
"By returning dust straight back into the process, they have significantly reduced our product wastage problems and reduced the time and effort we used to spend in keeping parts of the factory clean.
The units have been so successful that we are looking to invest in more Spotair filters in the future".
Both horizontal and vertical mounting Spotair units are engineered to eliminate the risk of product retention within the casing.
All units incorporate a low noise 0.75kW fan set and are designed to operate within a temperature range of -10deg to +60deg and operating pressure of +/- 200mm WG.
Compact in size, the Spotair is supplied fully assembled ensuring easy installation, even in this type of confined factory environment.
The units are manufactured in either stainless or mild steel and are sufficiently robust to withstand the rigours of the most demanding application.
