Six Sigma workshops to aid West Midlands firms

TMS Insight is offering a 17-day workshop to introduce major cost savings to automotive companies based upon a series of Six Sigma key objectives and selected projects.

TMS Insight is offering a 17-day workshop to introduce major cost savings to automotive companies based upon a series of Six Sigma key objectives and selected projects.

This will be targeted to up to 10 SME automotive suppliers in the West Midlands area.

The approach has been to develop the programme to minimise disruption within the workplace, which is being run for two days each month over an eight-month period.

This approach utilises the improvement tools and techniques, known as Six Sigma, run by the American Society for Quality Black Belt Champion, that includes workplace projects.

The whole aim of this part of the Six Sigma programme is to help companies achieve benefits, which they cannot achieve on their own, but can achieve through working with others who share the same problem or issue.

However, these will not be 'talking shops' but will be based on achieving significant business improvements, such as in new product or process development.

This programme is support funded by Advantage West Midlands (Accelerate) and this element of the Accelerate programme seeks to develop and sustain automotive networks in the West Midlands for the next few years.

The next programme is due to start in September 2004.

The average cost per company for this programme is GBP600 + VAT.
