Following on from the success of its original TSM3 handheld tension meter for steel reinforced Synchroflex and Breco belts, Transdev has released the TSM4 tension meter for all belting products.

Following on from the success of their original TSM3 handheld tension meter for steel reinforced Synchroflex and Breco belts, Transdev has released the TSM4 tension meter for all belting products.

The TSM4 handheld meter measures tension in all types of steel, aramid, glass fibre and polyester reinforced timing belts, vee belts, poly vee belts and flat belts.

The meter works by noncontact measurement of the natural frequency of vibration of the belt span in the range 7 to 400Hz.

A calculation table then equates the natural frequency of vibration to the actual belt tension.

One of the biggest factors of poor belt life is the under- or over-tensioning of the belt, and only with an instrument such as the TSM4 can the optimum initial tension be accurately measured and set.

The TSM4 will be available from the end of January 2003 at the same price as its TSM3 predecessor.
