Novel belt design transmits more power

A Transmission Developments product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 12, 2003

Synchroflex Generation III timing belts combine a revolutionary PU polymer body with closely spaced S and Z twist steel tension members to acheive up to 67% power increase over standard belts.

Synchroflex Generation III timing belts are available in the standard sizes of AT3, AT5, AT10, ATP10 and AT20 pitches.

These novel belts combine a revolutionary PU polymer body with new, more closely spaced S and Z twist steel tension members to acheive up to 67% power increase over standard belts.

The new PU body materials give a higher tooth shear strength allowing more teeth-in-mesh to be calculated combined with a continuous working temperature rating of up to 100C.

The new S and Z twist steel tension members greatly reduce side loads on flanges along with the consequent heat build up and combined belt and flange wear.

The closer winding of the S and Z twist tension members allows a greater power density over the same belt width.

Synchroflex Generation III belts run on standard toothform pulleys and need no increase in the required minimum pulley diameter and therefore can be interchanged freely with current drives.

The new belts are red in colour to differentiate them from their dimensionally similar less powerful siblings.
