Tension members keep belts on track

A Transmission Developments product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 5, 2003

All Breco and Brecoflex belts now have a new bifilar pair arrangement of S and Z twist tension members, laid alternately, to balance the timing belt for true tracking.

Exclusive to Transmission Developments, all Breco and Brecoflex belts now have a new bifilar pair arrangement of S and Z twist tension members, laid alternately, to balance the timing belt for true tracking.

The matched pairs of left (S) and right (Z) hand wound tension members counteract the tracking-off forces in each other and allow the belt to true-track properly.

The advantages of S and Z wound belts are greatly reduced side loads on flanges, reduced belt edge wear, increased belt life and reduced belt noise.

Breco V (joined and welded endless timing belts) and Breco M (open ended timing belting) are manufactured with paired tension members spaced parallel and symmetrically across the belt width.

Brecoflex truly endless timing belts are manufactured with two helically wound tension members in the bifilar S and Z alternate arrangement across the entire timing belt width.
