Transmission Developments now produces pulley coatings in two grades.

Transmission Developments now produces pulley coatings in two grades TPC1 grade is used for general-purpose applications where low friction is the most important property, and TPC4 is used where a higher abrasion resistance is more important than lowest friction

The coatings give multiple advantages to the designer and machine builder.

Lower friction between belt and pulley leads to increased efficiency, less heat generation and lower noise levels.

Abrasion resistance allows softer materials to be used such as low-cost die-cast pulleys.

Nonstick properties allow easier cleaning in food applications and the coatings are inherently food quality and corrosion resistance allows the pulleys to be used in more extreme environments.

Transdev has been applying coatings to pulleys for some years to achieve varying properties to customer's requirements.

Recent applications have involved the use of coatings to reduce noise, increase efficiency and allow the use of inexpensive die-cast pulleys in motorcycle overhead cam drives.
