Transmission Developments is to supply Gates Corp's premium V-belts, V-ribbed belts, synchronous belts and flexible couplings to the UK OEM market.

Transmission Developments and Gates Corp's PTI Division have established a joint strategy for the supply and support of the US manufacturer's premium V-belts, V-ribbed belts, synchronous belts and flexible couplings for the UK's OEM market.

Aimed at providing the high levels of service demanded by British manufacturers, Transdev will work closely with customers from initial application engineering and stock delivered supply through to post sales support for Gates Polychain, Polyflex and Quad-Power II belts as well as Gates Eurogrip couplings.

In addition, Transdev has been awarded a licence for Polychain products to provide standard and customised pulleys and will take full advantage its recent investment of over GBP 100,000 for a new, twin spindle, four-axis CNC machining centre complete with live tooling and gear cutting capability to provide fast turnaround of complete power transmission systems.

The Gates range of belt products on offer from Transdev cover some of the most demanding application areas in power transmission: Gates Polychain is used for high torque drive applications with speeds below 500rev/min.

Its increased power and performance capability allows a much more compact design when replacing roller chain and virtually eliminates all maintenance and costly downtime.

Polychain does not require re-tensioning and can even be used to replace or supplement gearboxes.

The range is available in 8 MGT and 14 MGT pitches as well as a Mini-Polychain version.

Application areas for this highly durable belt system include industrial machinery for mining, construction, food/beverage, wood, paper, pulp and textiles as well as motorcycle and engine drive systems, lifting and handling equipment, machine tools, agricultural and forestry equipment.

Gates Polyflex is a long lasting, high load carrying wide angle V belt drive system aimed at small precision drive applications such as machine tools, computer peripherals, medical equipment, domestic appliances and blower drives.

Its unique 60 degree angle polyurethane construction transmits greater loads at higher speeds in less space than conventional V belt systems.

Supplied in a wide range of widths with lengths from 280mm to over 2m, Polyflex is available in single or joined set versions.

Quad-Power II is the most powerful belt in Gates industrial V-belt range, replacing traditional V-belts on heavy-duty applications where space and weight savings are critical and guaranteeing high power capacity even on small diameter pulleys.

Available in XPZ, XPA, XPB and XPC cross-sections (widths of 10 to 22mm ) and in lengths from 630 to 4750mm.

Gates EuroGrip flexible couplings consist of a rubber sleeve and two metal end pieces.

They have a high vibration damping capacity making them ideally suited to direct drive, speed control applications for pumps and compressors.

They have generous radial and angular misalignment specifications and are especially useful in applications where resonance can be a problem.

The EuroGrip coupling is easily installed and the durable, low inertia design provides zero backlash characteristics for high positioning accuracy and repeatability applications such as linear actuators and motion control systems.
