Transdev provides chain products from three manufacturers.

Standard and specialist chains, sprockets and related components are sourced from German, Japanese and other Asian manufacturers and support service is provided.

Transdev's European partner is Wippermann, a German manufacturer of steel roller chains in simplex and multiplex forms to UK and US standards.

Available in pitches from 5 to 100mm with matching sprockets and accessories, the range includes a stainless steel option, attachments for conveying and parts handling and specialist chain alternatives including leaf chains, bush chains, easy break chains and silent tooth chains.

Wippermann has ISO9001 approval.

For fit-and-forget applications, Wippermann's Marathon maintenance-free chains have sintered bushings and coated hardened alloy steel.

They are claimed to last 35 times longer than standard roller chains without lubrication and up to five times longer than other maintenance-free chains.

Its precision manufacture and pore-free coating improves sliding performance.

The Japanese partner is Daido, a manufacturer of environment resistant and long life chain products.

The range includes the LU series with a porous film coating, designed to retain lubricant where grease and oil dispersal is not allowable in applications such as textile manufacture and food packaging.

The firm also produces specialist chains in stainless steel or exotic alloys, nickel plated finishes and with hard carbide coatings for improved life.

The LD-BL series has contaminant resistance and five to 20 times longer operational life than standard chains with its O-ring seal system.

It is for use where particle borne or dusty environments persist such as agricultural machinery or in the construction industry.

The Far Eastern partner is TYC with ISO9001 manufacture and lower pricing.

TYC has factories in Taiwan, Thailand and China and the range includes pre-stressed components with seam orientated bushes, lubricated and ready for use.

The range includes ISO and Ansi roller chain with options including attachment chain, leaf chain, motorcycle chain and agricultural chain.

Transdev carries £600,000 of stock with application and post sale support including an optional premium 24 hour service where stock chain products can be replaced and immediate manufacture and despatch of made-to-order products, such as attachment chains, can be provided if a machine breaks down.
