Belt handles coins for banking applications

A Transmission Developments product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 29, 2008

Reis Eurosystems use a BrecoR Power 250 XL series timing belt with a Linatrile backing that provides the friction and grip necessary to continuously move and separate coins under the sensors.

Reis Eurosystems' Nummus 6531V coin handling machine is capable of pre-cleaning, identifying, sorting and counting over 3000 mixed coins per minute with almost total reliability.

Used in banking and financial organisations, the machine is one of several models produced by the German manufacturer that help speed the process of money counting and reduce customer waiting times.

Coin detection reliability is obtained with a high-frequency sensor technology to quickly and positively identify coins and counterfeits during the sorting process.

As a fundamental part of the equally important coin transportation system, Reis Eurosystems use a BrecoR Power 250 XL series timing belt with a special orange coloured Linatrile backing that provides the friction and grip necessary to continuously move and separate coins under the sensors.

The XL timing belt used on the machine has a length of 635mm and a width of 6.35mm and has all the benefits of the Brecoflex Power range" constant length with no post elongation, S and Z twist tension members, reduced noise and high efficiency.

The Linatrile backing with its 55 Shore hardness further increases the belt's abrasion resistance and provides the optimum combination of high friction, wear and strain resistance for the job, ensuring a long life with minimal maintenance.

The nitrile rubber-based coating also provides very high resistance against dirt and dust which allows the use of coin recognition optical systems that are less sensitive to contamination which saves additional machine build cost.

Transdev is the exclusive UK distributor for BrecoR and BrecoflexR products.

Transdev provides an applications solution service to help customers determine the best belt backing solutions from a range of adhesive bonded and vulcanised materials that are used to aid parts transfer, increase wear resistance, reduce or increase friction and extend in-process durability.
