To help combat the modern problem of sick building syndrome, Testo has launched the 535 carbon dioxide (CO2) measuring instrument.

The level of ambient CO2 in indoor air is a key factor in determining its quality, and is often an indicator of insufficient ventilation.

The Testo 535 is the ideal instrument for building engineers for determining accurate measurement of ambient CO2 levels, especially in demand-controlled ventilating systems, and in open planned offices.

The 535 can be used to measure ambient levels Of CO2 and to check stationary CO2 transducers.

It will also measure levels Of CO2 at incoming and outgoing air ducts.

CO2 concentration is a key indicator of poor indoor air quality.

A high concentration will cause air to feel stale and stuffy.

If the ambient CO2 level in indoor air exceeds 1000ppm, the results can be tiredness, lack of concentration and even illness.

Testo's new 535 measuring instrument deploys a permanently attached CO2 probe, and a dual beam infrared absorption principle which features a reference detector as well as a measuring sensor, which allows accurate measurement without the need to calibrate the measuring sensor.

The dual beam method provides long-term stability, high accuracy and high levels of efficiency.

While in sedentary occupations sick building syndrome is clearly an inconvenience causing an undue number of lost working days, in some small workshop situations where concentration is vital to safer working practices, it can represent a genuine health and safety hazard.

The Testo 535 can be used with Testo's practical TopSafe protective case, for protection in harsh environments, and may also be used with the Testo printer to provide accurate printouts of readings.

An optional wall holder is available for rapid positioning of the measuring instrument with its probe.
