Maintaining a good indoor air quality in industrial and commercial premises is vital for combating sick building syndrome.

Testo reckons it makes light work of fault finding and regular maintenance in ventilation and air conditioning systems with its versatile all-rounder, the Testo 445.

Hailed as the instrument for daily measuring tasks in the VAC industry, the Testo 445 has multifunction two-channel data-logging technology which can measure all the parameters needed for SBS, including temperature, relative humidity, all types of air velocity, pressure and indoor air quality etc.

The instrument can then calculate dew point, absolute humidity, degree of humidity, enthalpy etc, and download results to a PC for further analysis.

Testo's Managing Director, Barry Whittaker, states: "The Testo 445 is an obvious choice to conduct a thorough assessment of the performance of air conditioning and ventilation systems in a wide variety of environments.

Supplied with the Testo TopSafe protective casing this instrument is also ideal for tough industrial applications".

Traditionally, assessing the performance of a ventilation or air conditioning system has meant patiently recording measurements with pen and paper and then performing a series of calculations to work out average airflows.

The figures would then be analysed to indicate the condition of the system.

The Testo 445, however, records up to 3000 readings electronically, allocates each reading to its location on the system, and works out averages automatically.

Recorded data may be printed out on site using a Testo printer, or may be downloaded for analysis on a PC.

In addition the Testo 445: works out standard velocity measurements by averaging readings taken at a predetermined number of locations; can measure the volume of air flow in duct outlets; measure relevant differential pressures for the condition of air filters; can confirm healthy outdoor air quality; detects CO leakage using carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide probes; datalogs with great accuracy; and is user friendly and has an easy to read four line display.
