Sound ideas in testing

A Testo product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 14, 2005

Two new sound level meters offer users a high accuracy level (class 2 to IEC60651) achieved by selectable sound level measuring ranges.

Testo has recently launched two new sound level meters.

Both the Testo 815 and Testo 816 offer users: a high accuracy level (class 2 to IEC60651) achieved by selectable sound level measuring ranges; the choice of fast or slow sampling rates; the ability to choose between two different frequency spectra, A and C, where A corresponds to the hearing sensation of the human ear and C is used when there are many low frequencies in the signal (eg engines); and recognition of maximum and minimum readings.

The Testo 816 boasts the following additional features to enhance ease of use: display illumination; trend bar display; AC/DC outlet for connection to external devices such as amplifiers, chart recorders etc; and mains connection.

Also available is a sound level calibrator to ensure the ongoing accuracy of the meters.

The calibrator can be used to easily test and adjust the measuring instruments to two calibration levels (94 and 114dB).

These new sound level meters are suitable for use in a range of applications including air conditioning and ventilation, industrial sites, workplace observations and environmental monitoring.
