Increased service life from improved cam clutches

A Tsubakimoto UK product story

OEM manufacturers producing equipment for woodworking, quarrying and materials handling industries are set to benefit most from a new range of sealed cam clutches

Tsubaki's new BB-2GD Cam Clutches offer increased service life and greater reliability in arduous environments thanks to a new lip seal design.

The units are ideal for use in precision indexing, backstopping and overrunning applications in industries where contact with particulates may occur.

Both standard clutches and internal keyway-mounted versions are available, which are easy to fit and interchangeable with competitive models as well as standard bearings.

OEM manufacturers producing equipment for woodworking, quarrying and materials handling industries are set to benefit most from Tsubaki's new range of sealed cam clutches.

The lip seal on the BB-2GD series protects the internal mechanism of the clutch from dust, grit or other abrasive substances, benefiting users through improved performance in terms of durability and accuracy.

In addition to particulate ingress, contamination from foreign lubricants is also a common reason for premature clutch failure, especially during routine system servicing.

To successfully combat this, the BB-2GD units come ready sealed with a long life lubricant, avoiding grease exchange as well as eliminating maintenance requirements.

The BB-2GD cam clutches are designed for convenient press fitting into standard ball bearing housings, (from 35mm to 80mm O.D.) and can accommodate shafts from 15mm to 40mm.

Torque capacities range from 29Nm to 260Nm allowing the units to easily replace bulkier, less efficient ratchet or roller designs in conveyor and vertical lift systems.

The new BB-2GD-1K model increases the compatibility of the BB-2GD series by offering an optional keyway on the inner race of the clutch.

Tsubaki are one of the few manufactures to carry the BB-2GD-1K units from stock and the recent launch of the BB-K and BSEU series units, means that they now offer one of the widest ranges of one-way cam clutches available, meeting torque requirements right up the scale to 686,000Nm.
