Thorite has been selected by boiler manufacturer TEI Greens Overseas, of Wakefield, to provide large bore cylinders as part of the current major retrofit contract within a Central American power generation plant Thorite has supplied a number of Norgren large bore pneumatic cylinders, each of 200mm bore and 320mm stroke, which are used to actuate the gas control damper system on boilers in the power generation plant, enabling the operator to modulate steam output levels if required

The nonmagnetic, aluminium cylinders were chosen for their high performance and rugged construction, both of which are crucial to ensure reliability in the punishing environment in which they will operate.

10 new boilers will be fitted with the actuators within the contract, which is due for completion by mid 2007.

TEI Greens Overseas manufactures marine and land-based boilers for an international client list of ship owners and power plant operators, together with a range of economisers and ancillary equipment associated with heat recovery technology.
