Simulation software helps train FPSO
operators
Dynamic simulation model for FPSO vessel trains operators on correct facility use and safety and emergency shutdown procedures.
TSC Simulation has recently supplied the PPS Group with simulation software for training operators on a 154,000 tonne FPSO The simulation software is based on a generic model used to train the operators on the oil and gas floating production, storage and offloading production vessel

This is essential to ensure the safe running of the plant and to ensure the systems are in place to minimise the environmental impact and maximise energy recovery from the plant.
The PPS Group offers its services to the oil, gas and petrochemical industry in technical support services, engineering packages and consultancy and has offices in the UK, Nigeria, China, Russia, Romania, Belgium, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The generic model of an FPSO vessel is based on a typical unit which is 246m long with a dead weight of 154,000 tonnes and which provides a total of 950,000 barrels storage capacity.
The production facilities consist of a number of processes for the recovery of the reservoir products; the cleaning and re-injection of gas and water; and the chemical treatment of the reservoir and facilities.
The systems are designed to minimise the environmental impact and maximise energy recovery from the plant.
The two gas/oil separation trains are designed for a total peak of 154,000 barrels of oil per day.
Produced gas is recompressed and re-injected to enhance recovery and/or disposal back into the reservoir.
Hydroclones treat produced water to include less than 25ppm of oil.
Re-injection is included, should this be required for reservoir pressure support.
Facilities are also provided for chemical treatment of the reservoir and plant with demulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors and biocides.
TSC, which has won a number of UK DTI Smart awards for its simulation development, puts the continued growth of the company down to recent major projects such as the training simulators for three oil and gas sites for BP in Azerbaijan and verification modelling and feasibility studies for AMEC in the UK.
