TUV Rheinland has as added an outdoor testing site to its industrial machinery testing and certification capabilities at its Southeast Regional office in Youngsville, North Carolina

TUV Rheinland has expanded its industrial machinery testing and certification capabilities at its Southeast Regional office in Youngsville, North Carolina.

The company has added an outdoor testing site capable of certifying a wide variety of outdoor power and commercial equipment as well as products requiring electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) certification.

The expansion brings domestic manufacturers a local regulatory testing option to meet certification requirements around the world.

TUV Rheinland's Industrial Machinery Division serves manufacturers in North and South America, and Asia.

The division's US-based customers requested the boosted capabilities to accommodate their needs for quick turnaround on global certification.

"We made the decision to expand testing for industrial machinery standards based on customer demand", said Al Servais, TUVRheinland's Southeast Regional Manager.

"Fortunately, we already had accredited facilities and testing engineers, and we sat on a site large enough to create a new lab that could meet this market's testing needs quickly and efficiently".

The test lab offers testing and certification services for manufacturers needing to export their machinery to the European Union and Pacific Rim.

Testing engineers assure that customers' machinery complies with numerous product requirements such as sound, safety, and electromagnetic emissions.

At the Youngsville location, TUV Rheinland's engineers can test outdoor power and commercial equipment to satisfy Europe's Machinery Directive 98/37/EC, Noise Emission Directive 2000/14/EC, as well as EMC testing of electromechanical equipment.

The expansive outdoor location also features the space required to test large and heavy equipment such as bulldozers.

As part of the expansion, TUV Rheinland also built a re-inforced outdoor enclosure to test lawn, garden and outdoor equipment.

Additionally, the facility continues its expansion to further encompass testing capabilities for chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and gardening and agricultural equipment.

The company holds several certifications from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), which sets the design and performance standards for the US industrial machinery market, among others.

TUV Rheinland is working to receive outdoor power equipment testing accreditation by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology under the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program.

The company's Southeast office is located near North Carolina's Research Triangle Park, otherwise known as the Silicon Valley of the East.

The area has proven a strategic base for TUV Rheinland to serve Southeast manufacturers in a variety of markets including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, information technology and telecommunications.

The company is offering a tour of the new testing site at its annual open house on Tuesday, 31st July.
