Tumarc has added a novel door velocity gauge to its product line-up.

Tumarc has added a novel door velocity gauge to its product line-up The gauge is being distributed by Tumarc under license from Durr of the USA and Germany

The gauge is designed to accurately measure the velocity required to latch a vehicle door.

It is intended specifically for use in the automotive production environment to ensure consistent setting of door components for optimised quality.

The door velocity gauge is light, portable and robust.

It weighs only 800g and measures 64 x 89 x 95mm.

It is also remarkably simple to use and can be set up in a matter of seconds to perform a door velocity test.

Two enhanced LCDs allow the velocity reading to be observed from either side of the unit (the reading can be displayed in metric or imperial units).

A red LED flashes to show if the velocity required to latch the door exceeds a preset limit.

The gauge is battery powered and calibrated by Tumarc prior to delivery to the desired closure velocity demanded for each individual vehicle model.

Business Development Manager, Mike Sneath, described how the product fits into the Tumarc portfolio: "Tumarc is primarily known by its customers for quality vehicle end-of-line test services, tools and telematics".

"They will not be surprised that we are diversifying into this type of product.

The velocity gauge fits excellently into the product line up with the improvement it brings to end-of-line quality testing for door closure".

"It has been designed and built by a company who fully understand the demands of the automotive production environment".

"When we were offered the exclusive European distribution rights to the door velocity gauge by Durr we had no hesitation in accepting".

The gauge is already being used to help improve door closure quality by Jaguar in its UK facilities and has been widely adopted by a number of manufacturers in their North American plants.

Tumarc is expecting widespread interest for the door velocity gauge from vehicle manufacturers across Europe.
