With 30 years' experience in testing to demanding specifications across a broad spectrum of industries, TUV Product Service is a UKAS accredited testing laboratory (No 0141 Group) and a member of the Link-Up preferred supplier scheme.
The company has an impressive track record in relation to EMC and environmental test and consultancy for sites, trackside signalling communications systems, passenger communications, and many other high-profile projects within the UK rail industry.
Examples of TUV Product Services' involvement with rail companies include: RF surveys below and aboveground for the Jubilee Line extension; EMC test and consultancy in relation to the impact of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link on Highways Agency motorway communications links; EMC measurements on mobile and stationary trains on the Docklands Light Railway and Manchester Metrolink; and EMC consultancy on track-to-train communications systems in its capacity as a Competent Body under the EMC Directive.
The company has also assisted the Department of Transport with compatibility of on-street light rapid transit systems with road traffic equipment.
TUV Product Service assists suppliers to the rail companies with specialist engineering and consultancy services including design modification, test plan generation, RF surveys, EMC Directive Technical Construction File assessment under the EMC Directive (89/336/EEC), and EMC and environmental testing services in relation to products and systems.
Recent contracts include test and consultancy for the Connect and Timis projects for London Underground, and an on-train monitor (black box) unit.
The company's test capability spans EN50121 series, EN50155, EN61373, RIA and LUL specifications for EMC and environmental compliance.
Environmental test facilities include climatic, vibration, shock and ingress, while EMC and environmental test chambers are capable of accommodating large-scale subassemblies, systems and platforms.
