Surge protection devices must now be tested to the requirement of EN61643-11, to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the LDV, using harmonised standards.

EN61643-11 has been added to the list of harmonised standards that provide a presumption of conformity to the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive.

Typical products within the scope are surge protection modules, socket outlets with surge protection circuits and any other product containing power surge protection circuits.

Products requiring European product safety approval that incorporate surge protection circuits must now be tested to the requirement of this standard.
