Trials show a better way to weld
A Leeds based manufacturer of solar assisted heat pump systems has improved quality and examined the potential to cut costs by using innovative welding technology.
For example, crane, rail light railways, tramways and funiculars.
The topics to be covered will include repair and refurbishment as well as new construction.
Proposed topics include: the UK vision for light rail transport systems; welding of "abnormal" joints, eg grooved rail to flat-bottomed rail; construction of funiculars; welding of crane rail; repair of grooved rail without preheat; grinding techniques on tramways; a continental viewpoint; and rail welding for Metro de Santiago Chile.
The event is aimed at rail welding and related personnel at all levels.
Previous events in this series have been attended by over 100 people including welders, inspectors, supervisors, trainers, managers, engineers etc.
