Pan-European Railsafe seminar set for Cambridge

A TWI (The Welding Institute) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 23, 2006

Seminar to cover proposals for education, training, qualification and certification of railway track welders on a common European basis as developed in the Railsafe project.

A pan-European Railsafe seminar will take place on Wednesday 24th January 2007 at TWI, Cambridge, UK.

It will cover proposals for education, training, qualification and certification of railway track welders on a common European basis as developed in the Railsafe project.

The seminar is timely in view of the recent publication of a new European standard, EN14730, on the training and qualification of rail welders.

There are at present no common European guidelines for railway track welders.

Each country in Europe has its own systems which causes problems with free movement of welders across national boundaries.

The Railsafe project aims to develop a harmonised system resulting in enhanced quality and safety on the railways.

A number of experts from various European countries will present the details of progress on the Railsafe project.

There will also be a presentation on EN14730.
