mixer
A contra rotating geared motor for industrial mixers has been developed by Custom Power Transmission using standard units by TPT David Brown Engineering.
A contra rotating geared motor for industrial mixers has been developed by Custom Power Transmission using standard units by TPT David Brown Engineering to offer users in the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries outstanding performance and flexibility The geared motor unit delivers an optimum 2.2/1 ratio between inner and outer shafts enabling concentric mixer blades or paddles to rotate in opposite directions achieving maximum effectiveness without the danger of damage to sheer sensitive substances

Using standard geared motor units from David Brown's C, F and K ranges, the Custom Power Transmission contra units can deliver a power range from 0.37 to 90kW depending on the type of duty involved.
Compact and flexible in their siting arrangements through the use of single left or right hand, right angled geared units, the new contra rotating drives require minimal head room - an important consideration with larger mixer units in confined spaces.
Moreover, because the new contra drives employ a module that fits onto the hollow shaft of the standard unit, it enables delivery time to be reduced to as little as 4 weeks for most specifications, compared to up to 3 months or more for other contra rotating geared motors.
Employing hygienic food industry standard stainless steel shafts, food compatible lubricant and two-pack epoxy paint finishes, the contra units use IP55 motors as standard and can be specified with either EEXD or higher specification units if required.
Terry Lynch, managing director of Customer Power Transmission, based in Milton Keynes, comments: "Concentric mixing offers the most effective solution for industries handling sheer sensitive materials, and we identified a need for a more efficient and cost effective unit.
Mating the contra module to standard David Brown geared motors provides original equipment manufacturers and end users with a proven power transmission solution for concentric mixing when a single or parallel shaft mixer is not capable of achieving the results they require".
