A heavy-duty gearbox critical to performance for a leading UK pigments producer was delivered by David Brown Engineering in less than 24 hours, preventing production losses of up to GBP 10,000 per hour Holliday Pigments, the world's largest manufacturer of ultramarine blue and manganese violet pigments, urgently needed a large Series G gearbox to replace a faulty gearbox which threatened to bring the dry-side production process to a halt at its plant in Hull

Federal Mogul Friction Products has upgraded its heavy duty mixing operation using a David Brown Series G gearbox as part of a solution created by Jackson Power.
Just 48 hours from a gearbox
Gearboxes available off the shelf in the UK following a deal struck with distributor that should reduce delivery times to less than 48 hours.
The gearbox was linked to a 75kW four-pole motor powering a huge mixing drum, 4m in diameter and approximately 6m long, which blends up to 10t of raw material 24/7.
Delivery of a size 14 gearbox was promised within 2 days on receipt of an order through FTP/Wyko, which runs the on site stores at the plant.
David Brown was still awaiting the order when there was an urgent call for help from Holliday Pigments at 1700 on a Friday, because it was feared the gearbox would fail at any moment.
By 1900 John Woodcock from FTP/Wyko had confirmed the order for the new unit with a promise of 24-hour delivery, and in fact, David Brown delivered the unit to site by midday on Saturday.
John Woodcock explains: "The modular construction of the Series G, and its universally machined, horizontally split casing has led to a family of speed reducing gear units that can be quickly manufactured.
For this size of gearbox, a 2 day lead time takes a lot of beating - but David Brown was able to really pull out the stops to meet the needs of Holliday Pigments".
The Series G range of medium/heavy duty helical gearboxes is designed to meet the requirements of applications including mixing, bulk handling, water treatment, cooling towers and conveyor drives.
Available in seven sizes from 11 to 130kNm output torque, with a ratio coverage of 6:3:1 to 315:1, Series G units can be specified in parallel shaft helical and right-angle shaft bevel/helical units in double, triple, and quadruple reduction gear stages.
