Benzlers is shortly to complete its seventh order in just over a year to Muenstermann, the international drying plant specialist.

The Benzlers screw jacks are being installed by Muenstermann at plants operated by Knauf (five orders) and other customers in a mixture of new build and existing upgraded production sites in both eastern and western Europe.

Given that each installation typically involves the supply of 24 or 36 units, a total of around 200 screw jacks have already been supplied.

Type BD58 Benzler screw jacks are essential components in the tunnel driers used to produce Knauf glass fibre insulation.

The belt driers are chain-driven with the chain suspended from the screw jacks.

In this unusual configuration the screw jacks gave the ideal performance/cost balance for the customer while they perform the function of maintaining the correct vertical position of the chain within the driers.

Another vital consideration was the thermal expansion which the components are subjected to in this application, given that the screw jacks are directly fitted to the top of the drying ovens.

A correct choice of materials on the part of Benzlers means that differential expansion is catered for and the correct tolerances and connector lengths are maintained during operation.

Commenting on the orders, Munstermann's Purchase Manager Friedhelm Balck said: "Benzlers' reputation, product quality and technical knowledge coupled with the undeniable importance of the cost element has enabled us to build on early successes a year ago and forge a lasting relationship with Benzlers on these projects".

Benzlers mechanically operated screw jacks are built for linear raising, lowering, pulling, pushing, pressing or adjusting various types of load.

Their precise positioning features make them superior to pneumatic or hydraulic jacks in many applications.

Capable of withstanding high loads in demanding environments, they are compact, easy to integrate and can be fitted with almost any drive motor.

Synchronisation in systems is easily achieved with jacks that perform exactly the same movement, in exactly the same time, with millimetre-precise positioning.

Series BD screw jacks incorporate worm gear ratios designed not to back drive, high capacity taper roller and thrust bearings, and are lubricated for life.

They are capable of handling loads of 100 tonnes and offering operating linear speeds up to 300mm/s.

Available in several versions, Benzlers screw jacks are of a durable design and construction, compact, and easy to integrate.

There are no pipelines with pressure losses, no hydraulic oil spillage.

They are environmentally safe and almost maintenance free.

Benzlers application engineers are able to assist customers with calculations and installation proposals even for larger more complex lifting systems.

CAD files are available.
