Chassis dynamometer systems gain new flexiblity
Screwjacks enabled Cirrus Technologies to compete in the chassis dynamometer market for vehicles as varied as the Ford Ka and the F350 pick-up.
Screwjacks from David Brown are providing increased potential to design, manufacture and supply RandD equipment for some of the major automotive manufacturers, including short wheel base vehicles.
Their recent installation has enabled Cirrus Technologies to rethink the construction of its chassis dynamometer systems and obtain the greatest flexibility of the system in operation.
Cirrus Technologies required a reliable, precise and above all compact linear actuator to assist its move into the chassis dynamometer market given the small size of some of the vehicles under test.
Existing systems used a linear actuator ball screw to accommodate vehicles of differing wheelbase dimensions, but the size of these components limited their suitability for some of the smaller vehicles.
With no sacrifice in functionality, the Screwjacks enabled Cirrus Technologies to compete in the chassis dynamometer market for vehicles as varied as the Ford Ka and the F350 pick-up.
Cirrus Technologies produces a wide range of chassis dynamometer systems to cover passenger car, motorcycle, truck and off road vehicles to analyse: emissions and fuel consumption, mileage accumulation and endurance, quality audit, climatic, wind tunnel, noise vibration and harshness and EMC.
The company is a leader in the design and build of advanced testing and assembly systems exclusively for the automotive industry world-wide.
