Tyco Thermal Controls' Atex-approved models open the way for electric heaters to be safely employed in hazardous areas, including offshore oil and gas platforms.

Tyco Thermal Controls has expanded its Isopad range of industrial electric drum and gas-bottle heaters with the launch of units carrying a full Atex system approval Heaters are widely used in the manufacturing and process industries to enable a rapid and more complete transfer of contents like waxes, fats and viscous fluids from drums and gas from bottles

These new Atex-approved models open the way for electric heaters to be safely employed in hazardous areas, including offshore oil and gas platforms.

By heating viscous substances directly to make them easier to transfer, the product is able to be removed from a drum in its entirety and with greater efficiency.

As a result the production yield is improved and power costs for removal reduced.

Isopad Atex-approved drum and gas bottle heaters feature self-regulating cable which eliminates the need for a temperature limiter and provides a simpler and safer mechanism for control.

The new units, and supplementary Atex base heaters for customers requiring a faster heat-up time operate across the broad ambient temperature range -40C to 50C, have a temperature rating up to 120C and carry an IP65 rating.

Their Atex approval extends to all temperature classes (T1 up to T6) in both zones, gas (1 and 2) and dust (21 and 22).

As the Atex approval is held on the complete supplied system, not just the components, customers can have confidence that these heaters are ready for safe deployment in explosive atmospheres.

Isopad drum heaters provide a clean, efficient and cost-effective solution to the uniform surface heating of standard 205 litre drums.

They have a rugged double-skin construction, with high-temperature thermal insulation to prevent heat loss.

They are fitted with castors for mobility.
