Len Weaver CBE has recently been awarded an honorary doctor of science (HonDSC) by the University of Greenwich at Rochester Cathedral.
Len Weaver CBE has recently been awarded an honorary doctor of science (HonDSC) by the University of Greenwich at Rochester Cathedral.
Weaver is an eminent alumnus of the university and a leading light in advancing manufacturing engineering in the UK.
He is the former Chairman of Polymark International, Jones and Shipman and engineering consultancies The Engineering Link and Eutech Engineering.
For the last 30 years Weaver has been at the forefront of manufacturing engineering in this country.
His standing in the field is illustrated by his involvement in a number of government and industry initiatives advancing the cause of manufacturing engineering.
He has been President of the Institute of Manufacturing Engineers and the Institute of Management Consultants.
Weaver is a founder member of the Board of Industrial Liaison with Engineering Courses (BILEC) at the university's School of Engineering.
Weaver's standing in national and international communities has been recognised by numerous awards, including International Engineer of the Year 1985, and a CBE in 1990.
More recently he has been awarded Fellowship of the City and Guilds Institute.
Weaver was joined by over a 100 graduating students in Rochester Cathedral.
The honorary degree was presented by Lord Holme of Cheltenham, Chancellor of the University of Greenwich.
Honorary degrees are awarded to individuals of distinction who have made a major contribution to the work of the university, or who have earned prominence for activities associated more widely with education, business, culture, creative work and public service.
