Cross-Channel collaboration in engineering, pharmacy, science and the environment was top of the agenda at a major event hosted by the University of Greenwich at Medway.

Bringing together more than 70 senior academics from across the French region of Nord-Pas de Calais, Le Havre, Rouen, Kent, Medway, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove, the seminar examined the opportunities for collaboration on both sides of the Channel and how to unlock research funding from the European Union.
The LINKS (Liaisons Interuniversitaires entre le Nord-Pas de Calais, le Kent et l'Est du Sussex) project aims to bring together leading academic institutions and foster a spirit of cooperation.
The seminar at Medway was the third in a series in the UK enabling direct contact and meetings.
Professor Alan Reed, University of Greenwich Director of Regional Liaison (Kent and Medway), said: "There is a wealth of academic knowledge on both sides of the Channel".
Professor Reed continued: "As institutions of higher education we all face similar pressures, especially in the areas of scientific and technological research, and collaboration is increasingly the way forward".
"Thanks to LINKS, we are now better placed to capitalise on our combined expertise and knowledge".
After formal presentations delegates toured the research and teaching facilities at the Chatham Maritime campus, and in particular the recently opened School of Pharmacy and well established Medway School of Engineering.
LINKS is part funded by Interreg IIIA, the EU fund designed to tackle economic and social issues and strengthen cross border relations.
UK partners include the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University College, Kent Institute of Art and Design, University of Brighton, University of Greenwich and University of Sussex.
The French participants included representatives from the PUEL (Pole Universitaire Europeen Lille, Nord-Pas de Calais).
