Board handles challenging quadrature applications

An United Electronic Industries product story

The DNA-QUAD-604 provides four digital inputs (in addition to the four A, B, Z channels) and eight digital outputs.

United Electronic Industries (UEI) has released the DNA-QUAD-604, a four-channel quadrature encoder input board designed for use with the company's PowerDNA, UEILogger and UEIPAC data acquisition and control Cubes.

The board provides standard A, B and Z (index) inputs for each channel and is designed to handle the most challenging quadrature applications with a maximum input frequency of 16.5MHz, and 32-bit counters.

The index pin may be set to reset/load the counter immediately, reset/load the counter on the next A/B cycle, generate an interrupt, or generate a cube-wide trigger pulse.

The counters may be read on software command or the board may be set to transfer the counter data into buffers at fixed timing intervals.

The DNA-QUAD-604 provides four digital inputs (in addition to the four A, B, Z channels) and eight digital outputs.

These digital I/O lines may be used as auxiliary digital inputs and outputs or configured as trigger in, trigger out, or clock out signals for each of the channels.

The digital I/O is compatible with both +5 and +3.3V logic, and the digital outputs are rated to supply +/-12mA of drive current.

The board offers 350V of isolation and 7kV of ESD protection.

The DNA-QUAD-604 is fully supported by UEI's wide variety of software including support for all popular operating systems, programming languages and application packages.

"The DNA-QUAD-604 is an ideal solution for providing quadrature information to any cube-based data acquisition and control system" according to Shaun Miller, UEI's President.

"The new quadrature encoder input capability has been a frequently requested capability among our Cube customers".

"We are delighted to be able to fill the requirement with such a high-performance product".
