The UK Industrial Vision Association will be at the Total Processing and Packaging Show offering free advice on applications of vision in the processing and packaging industries.

The UK Industrial Vision Association will be exhibiting on Stand 5290 in Hall 5 at the Total Processing and Packaging Show at the UK NEC, offering free advice on applications of vision in the processing and packaging industries, as well as carrying literature from many of its members.

The association is a not-for-profit organisation whose objective is to promote the use of vision in industry.

The association is well versed in applications in processing and packaging and has run a number of industry-related seminars.

Industrial vision systems are used in a huge range of applications in the packaging industry.

These include high speed, 100% label printing inspection, monitoring webs for consistency and tension profiles, dimensional checking of end-of-line packaging to ensure inclusion of correct contents, monitoring fill levels and carton closures, and correct application of labels to continuously fed products.

Labelling and marking of products is a particularly important application area with pattern recognition (feature finding), bar code reading, gauging (measuring), counting, presence verification and data logging being key activities.

Machine vision also has a significant role to play in monitoring the quality of the materials used for packaging.

This broad area covers raw material suppliers, paper and board, blown and extruded film, foils and laminates and convertors extruding plastics.
