New route to Chinese market

UL-CCIC is a joint venture between UL and the China National Import and Export Commodities Inspection Corporation, and is approved as a registered CCC agent.

Effective from the 1st August 2003, three months later than initially planned, products subject to compulsory certification cannot be imported into China or distributed among the country without first being certified in accordance with CCC requirements.

The postponement allows European manufacturers more time to place products, which fall under the new requirements into the Chinese markets.

The CCC product list covers 19 product groups and totally 132 product categories.

The CCC system, which was introduced on 1st May 2002 on an international basis, replaces the former CCIB and CCEE product safety certification schemes.

In order to support European manufacturers to sell their products to these important markets, UL is leading the way with UL-CCIC, UL's joint venture in China with CCIC (China National Import and Export Commodities Inspection Corporation).

This joint venture has been approved by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China as a registered CCC agent.

UL-CCIC has test facilities in Suzhou and Beijing and branch offices in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

This allows a team of trained and qualified professionals to assist manufacturers throughout the entire process to ensure that they will obtain the CCC certification in the most efficient manner.

This includes: provision of information on the CCC scheme; support to determine if products are subject to CCC certification and whether to submit the application with a CB report; applying for CCC certification and CCC Exemption Certificates; co-ordination and follow-up with the Chinese government, certification bodies and testing labs and facilitating the CCC certification process; assistance in resolving technical and any other issues in order to help to speed up the certification process; co-ordination of initial factory inspections; and assistance in purchasing CCC labels and/or applying for printing/impressing of CCC marks.

UL affiliates in Europe located in Germany, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland support manufacturers in a smooth access to the Chinese market.
