Linear motion systems on sale or return
basis
Motion control specialist Unimatic Engineers has introduced a new linear motion system that is set to shake up the UK market for linear bearings.
Motion control specialist Unimatic Engineers has introduced a new linear motion system that is set to shake up the UK market for linear bearings Martin Stevens, Unimatic's Managing Director, is excited about the benefits this new range brings to the customer: "The high quality and competitive pricing of Unimatic's SBC range represents a quantum leap in value-for-money in linear motion systems and, as such, will significantly shake up the UK market for these types of products

"Actually, we will ask one question - "Why?".
If there is something to learn, we want to hear about it.
If we need to improve our service, improve our product or adapt it to meet specific applications, we need to get that information.

We will even be putting a page on our website asking people to give us feedback about Unimatic and its products." Offering reduced friction and improved positioning precision, the company's new SBC linear motion guides are designed for use in CNC machines, automated production lines and indeed in any automated product or system where high precision and high performance are required, but where the design engineer does not want to pay over the odds to achieve the quality result he seeks.
Commenting on the launch of the new linear motion system, Martin Stevens said: "After nearly 40 years specialising in motion control and over 20 years as THK's major UK distributor, we are very pleased to be launching our own highly competitive and cost-effective family of linear motion products.
Unimatic's SBC range is compatible with other leading brands, enabling engineers to use the product in replacing components on existing systems.

This gives them the opportunity, at no risk, to save money on existing applications whilst retaining the integrity and quality of their system.
He continued, " The SBC Linear Motion System offers numerous benefits compared with other linear motion methods including longer life, lower energy consumption, lower maintenance requirements and lower lifetime costs." Because of the highly competitive pricing structure for these products, engineers can upgrade existing lower quality linear motion systems at very low or even zero additional cost while offering their end customers - whether external or in-house users - longer machine life, less maintenance, higher load carrying capacity and higher accuracy.
Four ranges are available, two for high load capacities and two for ultra high load applications.
FL and SL types are available in eight sizes each with block heights ranging from 24 to 90mm.
FLL and SLL ultra high load versions are available in seven sizes each with block heights ranging from 30 to 90mm.
SL and SLL types have narrower bodies compared with FL and FLL versions, which can also be attached from the top or bottom of the carriage.
Rails can be supplied to the exact length each application requires.
Unimatic's SBC system provides a highly cost effective solution to linear motion problems and features a simple design with circular arc contact construction.
This means the balls contact in two areas allowing the linear motion guides to effectively absorb the tolerances caused by elasticity, and to operate extremely smoothly.
SBC linear motion guides feature a highly compact construction and are simple to install.
Ball bearings within the guide block are fully protected with a seal while lubrication can be provided via a grease nipple.
Complementing the new SBC linear motion system is a wide range of accessories including a metal scraper to remove debris from the rails as the block moves up and down, a side grease nipple for applications where the standard position is obstructed or inconvenient, bellows to prevent ingress of dust and debris, and a hole cap to prevent pollution of the inside of the bearing.
Making a comparison between a typical supported shaft system and a replacement SBC system gives the following result: a fully supported 25mm diameter shaft and housed ball bushing system, 2m long with two bushings per shaft would cost almost exactly the same as an alternative SBC replacement.
The benefits of the Unimatic solution would be eight times greater load capacity and 500 times longer life, whilst lowering the centre height by around 50%. Request a free brochure from Unimatic Engineers ...
