Compact CNC machines come ready-to-use
Unimatic has launched a range of compact, cost-competitive CNC machines that offer unrivalled flexibility to cover a wide range of applications.
Unimatic has launched a range of compact, cost-competitive CNC machines that offer unrivalled flexibility to cover a wide range of applications The 3-axis gantry-type machines - with an optional rotary fourth axis - come complete with an integral machine tool controller with CADCAM capabilities
The four models in the new Isel range include fully enclosed desktop machines (the CPM2018, CPM3020) and a floor standing machine (the GFM4433).
With their different axis configurations, stepper drives and capability to work with a variety of different materials, the machines provide complete, ready-to-use systems for a range of industrial tasks.
The desktop machines can also be readily incorporated into proprietary OEM equipment, and are easily adaptable to meet OEM requirements.
The machines are built around a rugged aluminium chassis, with transparent protection covers with electric safety interlocks.
This in-built security cuts power to the drive motors when the hood is opened.
Closing the hood engages the interlock switch, initialising the software and restoring power to the motors.
As standard, the machines are fitted with a variable speed drilling/milling head, but special engraving heads, or mastic/glue or sealant dispensing units can also be fitted.
A flexible Z-axis clamping facility offers easy interchange of different spindles, heads and dispensing units.
Standard XYZ travels on the four desktop machines range from 200x175x90mm to 395x300x140mm, with clamping areas ranging from 425x250mm to 600x375mm.
The floor standing GFM4433 offers an XYZ travel of 440x330x160mm and a clamping area of 375x900mm.
In all the machines, the machine axes move on ball type linear bearings, driven by ballscrews from stepper motors.
The clamping area of the table bed is equipped with T-slots, and both lever and T-clamps are supplied.
Standard drive configurations are built around either 2-phase, high torque stepper motors.
Control of the stepper motors comes via an integrated 4-axis stepper drive.
Integrating all the drive electronics into the machine chassis results in a very compact range of machines.
A serial RS232 interface enables connection directly with a PC or industrial computer.
The open control system can interface to all leading software packages (via HPGL, DXF, IGIS, STL and ISO-G code import facilities with customer specific post processors), as well as Unimatic's own isy CADCAM software.
The isy CADCAM software is now at version 2.0, providing 2D scanning and vectorizing functions, 2D/3D CAD, graphic design, engraving and die manufacturing, 2D contour milling and pocket milling, 3D freeform milling and machine control.
This integrated CADCAM solution enables simple and economical production, and extends to a comprehensive range of applications.
The isel CNC machines are suitable for machining a variety of materials including hard wood, soft wood, light metals, plastics, resin and printed circuit boards.
Typical applications for the machines include CADCAM, rapid prototyping, model making, engraving, mastic or liquid dispensing, and drilling or end-milling.
A huge range of accessories enables the machines to be precisely tailored to the requirements of the application.
Whilst all the models in the isel range provide outstanding value for money, the GRM4433 floor standing model is a true budget machine, combining high performance, convenience and a unique design with a price breakthrough. Request a free brochure from Unimatic Engineers ...
