Mechatronics specialist Unimatic Engineers is to distribute the Trio range of motion controllers alongside the servo and stepper drives, linear actuators and other precision motion machine elements already in its product portfolio The complete Trio range will be available through Unimatic, from the basic MC202 single-axis controller to the flagship MC224, which can co-ordinate up to 24 axes simultaneously, as Trio director Roy Bamforth explains: "The MC224 controls up to 16 axes using traditional +/-10V signal technology, but that expands to 24 with Sercos communications

Motion control is on the cusp of a sea change with Sercos becoming the protocol of choice because it replaces the mass of wiring traditionally required with a single fibre-optic cable".
Unimatic has long had Sercos capability in its drives and is well known for its systems design and building expertise.
Managing Director Martin Stevens says: "Sophisticated motion control systems are required more and more often through just about every sector of engineering.
Our research suggests that Trio Motion Basic is the most popular motion control language in the UK, and probably the world too.
"Another great advantage of the Trio range is the completely smooth migration path throughout its product offering.
So users can start with the simplest motion system and steadily upgrade it as needs evolve, always using the same hard- and software.
There is no writing off of perfectly good equipment or new programming languages to learn.
This sort of range integration is vital as so many users need to steadily enhance their systems on an ongoing basis".
Trio was founded in 1987, so was one of the pioneers of integrated axes control and now sell about 10,000 axes around the world each year.
Unimatic has spent all of its 45 years at the cutting edge of machine design and technology development and is also recognised for its ability to provide ongoing support and service to clients throughout British engineering and manufacturing. Request a free brochure from Unimatic Engineers ...
