The Chief Executive of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, Linda Campbell, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The Chief Executive of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, Linda Campbell, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Congratulating Campbell, Lord Lindsay, Chairman of UKAS, said: "This is a thoroughly deserved award.

Linda has consolidated UKAS' separate predecessor bodies into a single organisation and achieved far-reaching developments in staffing, structure and performance.

Simultaneously, she has managed a challenging external agenda and UKAS is now working with a range of key players across many sectors".

"Her greatest achievement, however, is UKAS' brand reputation and integrity, and the pre-eminence this has won for the UK's conformity assessment sector".

Commenting on the award, Campbell said: "The award is great news for UKAS.

It is recognition of the important role we play in assuring trust in markets and confidence in services in the UK".

"People tend not to give too much thought about how much effort is needed to ensure free markets work; they just assume they do.

So it is pleasing that our work behind the scenes has attracted the spotlight for a second time this year, the past chairman having been similarly honoured in the New Year".

Campbell joined UKAS as Chief Executive six years ago.

Prior to joining she worked for BSI as Director of Product Conformity and Testing, and also held the post of Corporate Marketing Director.

Her career in quality started with Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance in 1985.
