Gillan takes chair in aerospace engineering

Dr Mark Gillan, BEng and PhD (Queen's University Belfast), FRAeS, CEng, is joining the University of Surrey in February as the first appointee to the Sir George Edwards Chair in Aerospace Engineering.

Dr Mark Gillan, BEng and PhD (Queen's University Belfast), FRAeS, CEng, is joining the University of Surrey in February as the first appointee to the Sir George Edwards Chair in Aerospace Engineering.

He is currently Head of Vehicle Performance at Red Bull Racing, which until very recently was Jaguar Racing.

Dr Gillan has also worked with the McLaren F1 team as Principal Operational Aerodynamicist and has been a Lecturer at Queen's University, Belfast.

Sir George Edwards was an innovative pioneer in the aviation industry working on many world-famous models.

Sir George died aged 94 in 2003 in Guildford.
