The Mini SVS sound velocity sensor, used for monitoring seawater, uses advanced digital signal processing to achieve exceptional stability and resolution, in a miniaturised package

The Mini SVS is a miniaturised version of the Valeport "Time of Flight" marine sensor, claimed to be the most accurate sound velocity sensor in the world This Mini SVS range, used for monitoring seawater, uses advanced digital signal processing to achieve exceptional stability and resolution, and an accuracy 10 times better than previous standards

Typical resolution is 1mm/sec, with an ASCII text string output of sound speed configured to suit customer data logger input requirements, at up to 21.8Hz.

The miniaturised sensor range enables extended applications, particularly where the small size and weight are important.

Already the Mini SVS has been applied in bathymetry packages, AUVs and ROVs, and as inputs for echo-sounder and acoustic positioner calibration work, hydrographic surveys and marine seismic applications.

The Mini SVS is 40mm diameter, and available with three different sensor sizes: 25mm, 50mm and 100mm interrogated path.

Sensor materials are titanium, invar and polycarbonate, rated to 6000 metres depth: the electronics can be in an integral 40mm titanium housing, or supplied without a housing for bulkhead installation, or for OEM use within an equipment module.

The Mini SVS is the most versatile of the Valeport range of seawater sound velocity sensors - an advanced range of sensors which apply advanced digital signal processing techniques to time of flight type measurements.

The design is adaptable for specific requirements to suit other marine or industrial applications of liquid concentration monitoring, including alternative electronic interfaces.
