Two engineering solutions from the Araldite 2000 range of structural adhesives are proving they can stand the heat in a specialist application for the domestic appliances industry.

Two engineering solutions from Huntsman's range of Araldite 2000 structural adhesives are proving they can stand the heat in a specialist application for the domestic appliances industry.

Araldite 2015 and Araldite 2011 have been chosen by Italian plastics manufacturer, Nuova Saimpa, as the best adhesive solutions available to bond oven door handles and cooker knobs to aluminium, thermoplastic and chrome substrates.

Nuova Saimpa has over 20 years experience in thermosetting components moulded for use in domestic appliances and has an international client base which includes the most prestigious brands in the domestic appliance industry.

Its team of design engineers specified Araldite 2011 and Araldite 2015 adhesive pastes because of their ability to provide tough, reliable bonds, even when applied to products with an exceptionally small surface area.

Nuova Saimpa's Supply Manager, Ferruccio Perri, explains more: "Each year Nuova Saimpa manufactures over 2,000,000 parts which often require some form of bonding".

"For the domestic appliance market these components are frequently small, as the supports are less than 1cm long and we have to undertake very specialised, highly accurate manufacturing processes".

"Before working with Araldite Adhesives our team of engineers tested numerous other industrial adhesives, all of which failed to provide adequate adhesion and bonding strength".

"Araldite Adhesives were different - their performance beat the competition hands down".

"Its physical properties enhance the quality of our products and we are pleased to say that since using Araldite Adhesives we have not received a single complaint from our customers about a bonding-related problem".

Alberto Vilanova, Director for Southern Europe at Huntsman Advanced Materials, said: "The versatility of the Araldite 2000 range means Huntsman can provide a suitable structural adhesive for almost any application, regardless of substrate or industry sector".

"We are delighted that the team at Nuova Saimpa are using our products to such great effect and getting maximum value from our expertise and innovation in providing novel design engineering solutions".

Araldite 2011 is a multipurpose two-component epoxy adhesive paste that demonstrates high sheer and peel resistance while creating strong and resilient bonds.

It also shows good dynamic load resistance and, thanks to its versatility, can bond a variety of substrates commonly used in industrial applications including metals, ceramics, glass and stiff rubber.

Araldite 2015 is a room temperature curing adhesive paste that is thixotropic and resistant to sag even up to 10mm thickness.

It creates durable bonds and is particularly suitable for SMC and GRP bonding as well as for joining various metal substrates.

Both products are available in easy to apply 200ml cartridges.

Huntsman Advanced Materials is a leading global producer of advanced epoxy resins, adhesives, coating systems, electrical insulating materials, printed circuit board technology, tooling materials and structural composites.

The company serves end-users within the aerospace, automotive, telecommunications, electrical and electronics, recreation and appliance industries.
