At this year's Euromold Huntsman Advanced Materials will showcase a range of new products, including a new epoxy board and a foundry casting product.

At this year's Euromold Huntsman Advanced Materials will showcase a range of new products, including a new epoxy board, RenShape BM 5050, and a foundry casting product, RenCast 6414A/5117-1 Huntsman's submission piece for the Euromold 2006 Awards - a 1:8 scale epoxy master model of an F1 racing car made using a new high temperature SMP system for flawless composite moulds manufacturing - will also be on display

The company's stand (Hall 80, Stand M174) will feature a range of product applications, focusing on the next generation of advanced stereolithography materials; the unique Cliffhanger casting system for simultaneous production of large tailor-made parts; and the RenPIM VG range of rapid setting polyurethanes.

RenShape BM 5050 is a new medium density epoxy board for pre-preg tools and for the production of data control and cubing models and vacuum forming moulds.

Its low coefficient of thermal expansion enables BM 5050 to maintain good dimensional stability throughout temperature changes and is heat resistant to 120C.

BM 5050 also has a compressive strength of 55-60MPa and a flexural strength of 35-40MPa.

It is easy to machine and provides a superior surface finish suitable for painting and polishing.

RenCast 6414A/5117-1 is a new polyurethane casting system for the production of castings where a high level of toughness and durability is required.

It can be used for foundry patterns, core boxes, assembly jigs and machinery parts.

The system can also be used for the production of percussion tools for working sheet metal and plate.

With its ability to withstand moisture, RenCast 6414A/5117-1 can be used for patterns and parts that have thin layers or walls.

It offers high tear strength and elongation as well as excellent abrasion and chemical resistance and low shrinkage (less than 0.6mm after seven days).

In a year that has seen Huntsman Advanced Materials receive a number of major industry awards including the JEC Composites Innovation Award (Aeronautics category) and the China Composites Expo Innovation Award (FRP/Composites Production category), the company will be making a submission for the Euromold 2006 Awards as well.

The scale model of an F1 racing car illustrates a new solution for making temperature resistance and high quality surface master models using seamless modelling paste.

This new system resolves the problem of bond lines and surface defects appearing when models and moulds are produced from temperature resistant boards.

The SMP is applied with conventional equipment and provides a time and cost effective solution able to cover very large surfaces without any bond lines.

The SMP is temperature resistance up to 200C.

Huntsman Advanced Materials offers a comprehensive range of SL materials and has remained at the forefront of product development in this field.

The latest additions to the range will be on show at Euromold - RenShape SL 7800 and RenShape SL 7810, both designed for use on solid-state SLA platforms.

SL 7800 is a high performance, general purpose resin with an outstanding combination of high elongation and impact strength.

With a low viscosity, clear amber colour and an ash residue on burning reduced by over 97%, it is particularly suitable for building accurate Quick Cast patterns.

Further benefits for most SL users such as long term dimensional stability and rigidity make SL7800 not only appropriate for building Quick Cast patterns but also for master models, snap-fit and functional parts.

SL 7810 is another new low viscosity resin, white in colour, combining improved impact strength and long-term durability of mechanical performance and dimensions.

The low viscosity minimises the risk of air pocket generation during the SL process.

It produces robust, white, ABS-like models and prototypes with a fine surface finish and detail.

Huntsman Advanced Materials' Cliffhanger casting system and its range of specially developed RenTool casting materials provides customers with a unique tailor-made rapid tooling system for medium to large sized parts and is particularly appropriate for the automotive industry.

Using CAD data from the customer, the Cliffhanger bed of adjustable pins can be programmed to produce either a negative mould of the component part.

The large size of the Cliffhanger bed - 2.7 x 2.1m - means several parts can be cast simultaneously such as a vehicle roof, doors and a front spoiler.

This makes the system extremely time and cost effective - delivering around a 30% cost saving for customers.

Huntsman's rapid setting vacuum grade polyurethanes range - RenPIM VG - is used by many of the world's manufacturing industries.

This two component, polyurethane vacuum casting range can simulate the appearance and physical characteristics of engineering thermoplastics including ABS, PP and PE.

They can be used to produce functional prototype parts for a range of automotive, aerospace, consumer goods and leisure applications.

RenPIM VG polyurethanes are specifically formulated for vacuum casting so must be processed via the right equipment.

After machine mixing, the material is de-gassed under a vacuum for a few minutes before being cast into a silicone, polyurethane or epoxy mould.

Demould times at 40-70C, dependent on wall thickness, range from 30 to 120min.

Cure times range from 4 to 12h at 60C.

Most RenPIM polyurethanes are pigmentable or come in black, and two transparent systems - RenPIM 5238 and 5239 - offer excellent clarity and optical properties.

For high temperature and impact resistance, RenPIM 5234, 5235 and 5237 have been developed to simulate these ABS-like characteristics.
