Araldite 2011 adhesive is used for bonding key components on specially designed racing wheels.

Xentis, one of the world's leading manufacturers of high performance racing wheels for the cycling industry, has selected Huntsman Advanced Materials, to supply its Araldite 2011 adhesive solution for bonding key components on specially designed racing wheels Xentis wheels are used in extreme road racing events all over the world, including Ironman competitions and time trial racing

It was therefore fundamental for Xentis that its chosen bonding solution had high shear tolerance and would maintain performance under extreme environmental and harsh braking conditions.

Xentis wheels are renowned for exceptional performance.

They are light weight and produce very little rolling resistance, helping the cyclist expend energy more efficiently during competitive races.

Gerald Possarnig, General Manager of Xentis commented: "Araldite adhesives were perfect for use on our range of carbon monocoque racing wheels".

"In racing conditions, our wheels are subject to high stresses and it was vital we sourced a bonding method that could cope under these extremes".

"The properties of Araldite 2011 adhesives mean the intrinsic strength of the wheel is improved and the performance of the bike increased".

Each of Xentis' individually hand crafted wheels consist of a monocoque wheel body, alloy rim band and alloy hub.

These are then bonded together using Araldite 2011 adhesive to create one of the world's leading high-performance racing wheels.

Continuing, Possarnig said: "The requested high curing temperatures of some competitive bonding solutions prohibited their use".

"The risk that wheels subjected to thermal curing could warp was too great".

"The low curing temperature of Araldite 2011 adhesive was perfect and means the manufacturing process is much easier and overall much less strenuous on the structure of the wheels".

Jean-Francois Perey, Sales Manager Adhesives for Huntsman Advanced Materials, commented: "Huntsman Advanced Materials has a vast amount of expertise in the development of engineering adhesives for high-performance equipment".

"Many sports products need to be lightweight yet robust".

"Our wide range of bonding solutions enable equipment manufacturers to continue raising the bar of sporting excellence and we are delighted to include Xentis in our list of clients".
