Variohm Components is now offering the Wachendorff range of incremental encoders as an extension to its existing range of position sensors Wachndorff products are designed specifically for the industrial market as they are of an extremely rugged construction having two heavy-duty bearings located inside a substantial bush

Rotary position sensors are small and rugged
The new Vert X family of sensors not only comes in various housing diameters from 13 to 37mm and offers a number of analogue or digital outputs, they are sealed to IP69K (operational).
The bush is large enough to allow bearings to be fairly widely spaced from each other, an arrangement that can tolerate a much higher radial force than virtually all competitors' devices.
All Wachendorff incremental encoders are sealed to IP65.
But their ruggedness isn't restricted to the mechanical side.
Electrically, they are also built for reliable operation, partly because they use photo transistors rather than diodes in the detecting circuits.
The advantage being that signals from photo transistors are much larger and less susceptible to noise problems.
Surface mount technology is used throughout and each device undergoes a 100 hour 'burn-in' programme prior to despatch.
