Variohm Components have been appointed by LMI Sensors to market their range of laser distance measurement sensors, which consists of over 44 specialised designs

Towcester based Variohm Components have been appointed by LMI Sensors to market their range of laser distance measurement sensors.

The range, developed over thirty years now consists of over 44 specialised sensors.

The addition of the LMI sensor range takes Variohm into applications which were hitherto impossible for them to address.

They are now able to measure at the sub-micron end of the distance measurement scale, the best resolution being 45 nanometers.

The dynamic response of the units is excellent with sampling rates of up to 500kHz.

Over 4000 LMI sensor units are used worldwide on a daily basis in industries as diverse as rubber and tyre, automotive, robotic guidance, timber products, building materials, road surface inspection and molten metals.

Innovation is the key word since LMI Sensors' equipment is used to measure oscillation, thickness, contact height, material deformation, width and roller gap.

These tasks are performed using laser technology together with special optics to measure Diffuse Reflection, Shadow or Specular Reflection depending upon the surface of the material or object being measured.

The output is always analogue though it may be encoded digitally for export via a standard interface.

A copy of the LMI brochure is available on request to engineers, designers and specifiers who contact the Variohm Components sales team.
