Hitec produces a wide range of single, half bridge and full bridge gauges from foil or chrome Aluminium Alloy for use in environments where the ambient temperature can rise as high as 1350C

Taking on the UK Agency for the Hitec range of high temperature strain gauges has caused Variohm Components to become something of a specialist in force/stress measurement in exhaust systems Hitec produces a wide range of single, half bridge and full bridge gauges from foil or chrome Aluminium Alloy for use in environments where the ambient temperature can rise as high as 1350C

Despite the fact that Variohm and Hitec provide training in the techniques involved in installing these gauges they have found that many customers are looking for a complete package comprising the supply, installation and calibration, which Variohm is quite happy to offer.

One very interesting area where this service is required is in the Automotive industry, particularly on exhaust systems.

The environment under the bonnet of a car is extremely hostile and exhaust parts need to be carefully designed and fully tested if they are to provide the degree of in-service satisfaction which today's quality conscious consumers are looking for.

Although Variohm is carving out a niche for itself in the automotive field, this is by no means the only area of application.

Recent tasks have included gauging Aero engines and fitting weldable gauges onto railway lines.

These weldable units are factory fitted to a metal carrier and can be taken right out of the box and welded into position by personnel with no experience of strain gauging.
