Variohm unveils 28mm diameter angle sensor

A Variohm Eurosensor product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 19, 2009

Variohm Eurosensor has launched a 28mm diameter angle sensor, the Euro-X, aimed specifically at arduous high-duty cycle position feedback applications in all areas of motor sport.

With a factory programmable range from 0 to 360deg and a 12-bit positioning resolution, the Euro-X uses a non-contacting Hall effect and magnet design for maximum durability against shock and vibration.

The Euro-X is aimed at arduous high-duty cycle position feedback applications in all areas of motorsports.

The fully sealed and IP67 rated sensor is virtually maintenance free.

To further suit harsh motor sport environments, the temperature specification covers a working range of -40C to +125C, with a short-term upper rating of +150C.

The standard sensor has a 5V DC supply and 0.5V - 4.5V ratiometric output, with redundancy as an option to suit the majority of automotive and motor sport applications.

Alternative PWM and SPI output versions are available on request.

Independent linearity is +/- 0.3 per cent of measurement range with maximum hysterisis and maximum repeatability both specified at 0.1deg.

The Euro-X non-contacting position sensor can be installed in space-restricted areas using two slotted mounting holes for M4 screws on a 38mm PCD.

D-type and slotted shafts are available and electrical connection is via Raychem three-core cable.

Alternative leadwire lengths and connector options are available and Variohm can supply smaller housing versions down to 9mm diameter.
