Pipe and tube specialist Van Leeuwen Wheeler has launched the latest stage in its growth strategy with the appointment of a new Business Development Executive based at its Arbroath warehouse in Scotland Derek Mason's brief is to develop existing business and sign up new accounts for the business throughout central Scotland

A subsidiary of the Dutch-owned Van Leeuwen Pipe and Tube Group, Van Leeuwen Wheeler's Arbroath operation has traditionally focused its business on the offshore industry.

Since the merger of the M/K Wheeler and Van Leeuwen Precision businesses, the company has expanded the product portfolio offered out of Arbroath to include a broad range of hydraulic and mechanical stock.

Derek Mason, who has moved to the business from a background in corrosion resistant materials for chemical processing, where he held both sales management and quality assurance positions, says: "There is still considerable scope for growth in Scotland for oil related materials but equally there is a substantial engineering market offering potential for our wider product range".

"Moving the business forward to build a broader customer base in Scotland is the key challenge of my new role".

Van Leeuwen Wheeler offers a full range of bar and pipe for the hydraulic and pneumatic, mechanical engineering and special welded tube markets.

It offers daily and weekly deliveries from Arbroath, supported by UK warehouses in the Midlands and North East, with the capacity to call on the extensive ranges offered by its parent company's three major stockholding warehouses in the Netherlands.
